Modern residence on Martins Cove, Hingham

This design involved a substantial renovation of a mid-century modern residence in Hingham. The home is located near World’s End and offers extraordinary views across Hingham Harbor to downtown Boston, The floor plan illustrates how connecting the restored original living room to a double height eat-in kitchen, established the core of the home as the center for the family to gather. The two wings were expanded to provide four bedrooms and a master suite on the private end of the house and a family room, office/ guest room and entry on the street side.

A new freestanding garage defines the edge of the outdoor patio and screens the rear yard from the street. The covered breezeway, which connects the house to the garage is supported by slender steel columns and creates an expressive and clear entrance.
