Cape Cod Modern House Addition
In 1948 the Architect Nathaniel Saltonstall, one of the founders of the ICA, established The Colony Club of Wellfleet as a private club for art collectors. In 1952 he built several homes in the International Style for members on nearby Chequesett Neck. The new owners of one of these, commissioned Hammer Architects to update and expand their house.
The new plan relocates the kitchen from the original maidís wing, permitting family activities to be centered in the house. Utilizing the structural vocabulary of the original house, the new addition provides a new dining room, outdoor dining terrace, a master bedroom suite and indoor lap pool with an adjacent patio.
