Provincetown Residence Addition
Located at the end of a shell-paved lane near Provincetown’s center, this comprehensive reconstruction of an 1820’s Colonial house with later additions, created a three-bedroom residence with a landscaped courtyard in a previously unused back yard. Great care was taken to blend the new construction with the scale and historic character of the surrounding homes.
The first floor plan was reconfigured and oriented to the yard with large french doors. A spacious screen porch was added providing additional entertaining space and further linking the house to the garden courtyard. The new second floor master bedroom suite includes a private roof deck.

Cambridge Nursery School,
Cambridge, MA
Founded in 1923, the Cambridge Nursery School is one of the oldest cooperative preschools in the country. The design entailed an addition to and renovation of their facility built in 1928. Two new classrooms were added to the original building, which was in turn repurposed to provide the directors office, common play spaces, library and staff kitchen. The classrooms each have direct access to outdoor play spaces and are able to be combined with a operable partition. The design, which received approval from the Cambridge Historical Commission, draws on the materials, forms and details of the original building and the adjacent residential context.
